Cinque Terre, Italy

Via dell'Amore, the trail between Riomaggiore and Manarola. Through the years couples have placed padlocks along the trail to 'seal their love'.

The water was crystal clear.

Grant overlooking the bay at Manarola after having enjoyed some chocolate gelato.

This was one of the first olive trees we saw and all the branches had been grafted in to the trunk. For the duration of the trip we saw plenty of olive trees and all of them had ripening olives.

Corniglia. This was the only town of the five that we did not visit.

Overlooking Vernazza.

Vernazza.

The kids playing at a playground in Vernazza.

The marble mines of Carrara as seen from the highway. The mountains appear as though they have snow on them, but the whiteness is the marble. Michelangelo came to Carrara to personally choose blocks of marble to sculpture.

Driving up the mountains to the mines there were marble shops all along the way; we stopped at one. Next to the one we stopped at there were marble artisans creating various sculptures; see below.
